Slovenia is a country in Central Europe. It is bordered by Italy to the west, Austria to the north, Hungary to the northeast, Croatia to the southeast, and the Adriatic Sea to the southwest. Slovenia is predominantly mountainous and wild, occupying 20,271 square kilometers (7,827 square miles) and has a population of 2.1 million (2.107,007), of which 300,000 live in the capital Ljubljana. The Slovens are the majority of the country's population, while the Serbs are the largest minority. South Slavic Slovenian is the official language. Slovenia has a predominantly continental climate, with the exception of the Slovenian Literal and Julian Alps. The Mediterranean climate extends to the northern extension of the Dinaric Alps, which crosses the country from northwest to southeast. The Julian Alps to the northwest have an alpine climate. The continental climate is becoming more and more pronounced near the Panonia plain in the northwest. The country's capital and largest city, Ljubljana, is located almost in the center of the country.

Slovenia is historically a crossroads of Slavic, German and Romance languages ​​and cultures. The territory of modern Slovenia was part of various kingdoms, including the Roman Empire, the Byzantine Empire, the Caroline Empire, the Holy Roman Empire, the Hungarian Empire, the Republic of Venice, and Napoleon's First French Empire in the region of Irilia. , The Austrian Empire and the Austro-Hungarian Empire. In October 1918, Slovenia co-founded the states of Slovenia, Croatia, and Serbia. In December 1918, it merged with the State of Serbia and the State of Yugoslavia. During World War II, Germany, Italy, and Hungary annexed and occupied Slovenia, and moved a small portion to Croatia, then a puppet state of the Nazis. In 1945, he became a founding member of Yugoslavia. After the war, Yugoslavia initially allied with the East, but after the partition of Tito Stalin in 1948, it did not join the Warsaw Pact and in 1961 became one of the founders of the Aline movement. In June 1991, Slovenia became the first republic to secede from Yugoslavia and became an independent sovereign state.

Slovenia is a developed country with a high income economy. Very high position in the Human Development Index. Calculated by the Gini coefficient, it is one of the countries with the lowest income inequality in the world. He is a member of various international organizations such as the United Nations, the European Union, the Eurozone, the Schengen area, the OSCE, the OECD, the Council of Europe and NATO.
